Each of its levels contains five words, accompanied by a sequence of jumbled letters for hints.

A minimalistic yet challenging game

The first thing to notice about Hidden Words is how barebones the interface looks. The overall layout uses various shades of blue and white, making it reminiscent of the old Text Twist 2 game. Its straightforward interface makes it suitable for a Twitch chat interaction, letting viewers simply type in their answers without getting too distracted from the streaming channel they’re currently on.

For the gameplay, there are over 150 levels to choose from, which you can play solo or with friends. The levels vary in difficulty, with some levels featuring words that are easy to spot while some are frustratingly challenging. However, the stages don’t play in a particular order and progress can’t be saved. Essentially, every time you play, you draw one level from its pool and play in random order.

With the nature of the game, it’s best played on a reasonably sized display device since some hidden words are already challenging to spot. Playing on a small screen makes the game even more difficult. The only restriction is that after playing some time, the game gets predictable, making it beneficial for the game to add more levels to randomize certain game elements.
